Porphyry tiles

Porphyry tiles are used for both indoor and outdoor paving; and, with adequate thickness, also for heavy traffic.

Porphyry tiles can be quarry face with split or sawn edges and with flamed faces.

This type of product is well suited to use in historical contexts as also in more modern and contemporary situations.

SPLIT TILES

Split tiles have an upper quarry face and are produced by mechanical splitting; these tiles are available in fixed widths (10-15-20-25-30-35-40 cm) and random length, or in fixed length to order only. These porphyry tiles are suited for use as outdoor facing and paving.

SAWN TILES

Sawn tiles have the edges sawn rather than split, and are therefore of fairly constant size. The widths are fixed (10-15-20-25-30-35-40-45-50 cm) while lengths are random or fixed. This particular type of porphyry tile allows narrow grout spacing (even only 4/5 mm). The upper surface can be: quarry face, flamed, brushed or semi-polished.

The quarry face is suited both for pavings and for facings, indoors and outdoors.

The flamed, brushed and semi-polished face is particularly well suited for pavings and facings, both indoors and outdoors, and is obtained by flaming the upper face. Thickness is constant, thus allowing  laying with tile mastic.

Further processes used only for indoor application only are semi-polishing or brushing the flamed face. The surface feels polished to the touch and is quick and easy to clean.
